Transferring a route from your phone to your XT is a snap. A route you develop on the desktop (PC or Mac) is immediately stored in the cloud, and immediately available on a Tablet or your phone. MRA in particular has a lot of similarities to BC, and from a technology perspective has some cool features. Like you, I've wondered about life after Basecamp, and have started experimenting with a few commercial alternatives. If you're looking for a workable alternative, MyRoute-app (MRA) is worth considering. But for both OS platforms, there is nothing on the seeable horizon. If Apple develops a new processing chip that Garmin deems too much trouble for BC compatibility, that could mean Mac death moving forward. Still, t's not going to die for the next several years, especially on the Windows side. Really just wish Garmin, Google and Butler would just all play together.Ĭlick to expand. With Garmin's decision to not provide direct Basecamp to XT2 integration, it's one more nail in BC's coffin. What it’s good for is showing the Butler routes in a digital format. I have not contacted Garmin as I have no trips planned and I ride the UP every year and would not bother with Base Camp for it. It keeps telling me maps are out of date and when I try to update it doesn’t change anything. I wanted to try it because Base Camp isn’t working correctly on my new Mac. I have not used it for Rever but the old Harley trip planner GPX file transfer had to be edited when moved over. Layering has useful features but the satellite data is at least 4 years old in the areas I just rode and around my home in West Michigan. In the past when building trips out west I use all mapping sources to find POIs. You can however follow a route that has more. One thing to keep in mind is that it won’t run you in turn by turn if you have more than 25 waypoints. I tried using the curvy route to grab some of the butler G1-G3 roads in upper Wisconsin and Michigan but it didn’t run it the way I wanted so I just changed it to A-B and drug the route around. I just got back from riding around Michigan U.P. One difference is when dragging the route it will create a waypoint.
